Unconventional way to create awareness
During the DIFC Art Nights 2020 event that took place in November 2020, GreenFootprint.ae teamed up with Artezaar and Unite for Planet in order to spread awareness about the waste issues and sustainable living.
GreenFootprint.ae chose an unconventional rather than mainstream way to create media and promotional material and spread messages. Instead of printing organisational and event banners, we hired a graffiti artists to upcycle paper cupboard fridge box into our promo banner. During the live painting session, we engaged with the audience discussing about importance of sustainability, conscious consumption, waste, and resource optimization (upcycling).
We were happy to be there and interact with over 15,000 visitors over 2-day event, and discuss about our impacts with the VIP guests: Khalid Abdulwahid, Director of Fine Arts, Dubai Culture and Saleh Al Akrabi, CEO, DIFC Properties and Investments.
Climate change is a real issue globally. There are global movements for raising awareness and speaking how serious problem is. On the individual level of the average consumer, this will be to heavy and far away problem to care about. This is why, as GreenFootprint.ae, we choose to show positive ways and example, how the things should be and engage with consumers and businesses in the fun way.
This event was a good occasion to launch our Zero Waste Shopping Campaign, another fun way to invite people in the UAE to say “NO” to single use plastic bags.
GreenFootprint.ae is a online crowd-sourcing platform, supported by the UAE government, for recognizing, supporting, and growing sustainable practices, with goals to reduce single use plastic in the UAE and close the loop, by addressing production, consumption and waste issues, and creating transparency. We are taking a holistic approach to create a value-share model for all by bringing together the government, industries, and consumers.
