Can you tell us more about Artezaar?

Being artists ourselves, we love collaborating with fellow artists, and are proud that we understand their DNA. It all started with a simple need and the right opportunity, with a mission – to build a community of flourishing and aspiring artists offering original artworks and handicrafts, and actively engaging the art ecosystem. We are driven by a simple mission: We want to help artists sell their artworks and handicrafts to art buyers and collectors, locally and globally. We work with around local 150 artists and constantly have events to engage the community. Some of our past events include World Art Dubai, World Energy Forum, DIFC Art Nights, Modista exhibtion, a few private exhibits at leading hotels, and more recently we introduced our virtual events series.

Can you tell us more about this year theme at the DIFC art nights?

We believe that art has the ability to bring people together and share ideas.

This Art season, Artezaar presents an innovative and beautiful collection of artworks promoting sustainable art, putting the environment at the forefront. Our theme “EARTH” symbolizes our love and connection to Mother Earth.

Each of our art piece weaves a story close to the Artist’s heart, and is expressed aesthetically with materials that are in tune to nature, such as twigs, leaves, vines, discarded wires, used fabric, paper, magazines, cartons and anything else found at home.

We chose environment sustainability as a theme to remind people how interconnected we are to and that we can take care of ourselves by taking care of the planet. If it hurts, we will too. The way we show up how the future looks as we are shaping it as we go along.

Can you share about any sustainable and eco initiatives done so far by Arezaar?

Many of our artists have been passionately working on art pieces created out of recycled and found objects. I have to admit that this pandemic gave us a great opportunity to become minimalist and explored how we can turn waste to something beautiful. We saw our resident Artezaar artists explore new mediums and create a lot of new pieces as they tackled and dealt with the crisis.

We are very excited to showcase our sustainable art collection at the DIFC Art Nights and hope this will pave the road for more such opportunities in future.

“Hope”- This particular piece is very close to me as we move to becoming more sustainable in our daily lives. If we all adopt a few recycling and reusing tips in everything we handle, we can make a big difference to the global warming and our children can have a world that is not just black and white. In this piece, you will see the boy still holds hope with the yellow flower in his hand. This is a mixed media piece adorned with objects found at home. “Sound of Sustainability”- Through the years and advancements in technology, music has become a large part of our life experiences. “The Sound of Sustainability” aims to showcase that music is more than just a melody to hum and enjoy – its power lies in its ability to improve physical and mental wellbeing, create careers, address social issues and connect people regardless of their backgrounds. Seven CDs are hung on threads against a vibrant background to reflect seamless connectivity across the 7 continents and a world without boundaries, especially in times where we are required to remain socially distanced. The CDs are chosen to partially reveal words that depict the impact of music on our lives. Paper cuttings of song lyrics are stuck on the CDs to give viewers a different perspective on what song lyrics might mean. The inspiration for this artwork started when the mother-daughter duo (Mina and Anvita) were de-cluttering the house. They came across many CDs that hadn’t been played in many years. On learning that a CD takes 1 million years to decompose, they decided to explore the possibilities of using them in art. By Mina Dasani

GreenFootprint.ae is joining hands with Artezaar and Unite for Planet in spreading awareness about the sustainable living practices during the DIFC Art Nights.

This event will be an occasion to launch our Zero Waste Shopping Campaign. We choose an unconventional, away from mainstream way to create our media material and spread the message. During the live painting session, Graffiti artists will upcycle paper cupboard into our promo banner.
